Project Details
This project included preparation of plans and specifications for an MDOT-funded project to extend a 5-lane boulevard roadway in Portage through Pharmacia property. The project featured utility work, roadway lighting design, curb and gutter, landscaping, drainage/retention, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main improvements, super-elevation, retaining walls, traffic signal upgrades to accommodate width changes, and dual left turn lanes. It also included Pharmacia parking area modifications and the creation of a non-motorized bike path. Traffic signal work included signal head upgrades, illuminated street name sign, loop modifications at Lovers Lane, and a complete relocation of mast arm mounted traffic signals at Portage Road. Key components of the project involved coordination of construction with the city and Pharmacia, addressing poor soils, contamination and wetlands issues, in addition to meeting a strict deadline for completion of construction.
