Benton Harbor, Michigan
Our team began shaping Southwest Michigan communities more than 40 years ago, and it all began in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Originally called Brunson Harbor, Benton Harbor used to be complete swampland bordered by the Paw Paw River. In 1979, we got our start here by providing clients with surveying, civil engineering, and marina development services, and our Benton Harbor home serves as an iconic landmark in the city's blossoming downtown district.
In August of 2021, our Goshen team moved into a brand new space right in the heart of the Goshen Art District. Situated among local parks, cafes, a brewery and winery, and many other downtown businesses, Abonmarche Goshen is at the center of a town bustling with activity. Goshen is known as the center of manufacturing for recreational vehicles, and also hosts one of the largest county fairs in the United States.

High quality service, with a client-focused mindset is the motto for our Hobart location. Just 30 miles southeast of Chicago, Hobart is well-positioned to support our work in that region. This city is popular for being the home to Lake George, a popular place where the community can gather and walk along the waterfront. Hobart is a significant place for our railway system as it includes three major railroads – Norfolk Southern Railway; Chicago, Fort Wayne, and Eastern Railway; and Canadian National Railway.
In 2020, Abonmarche launched the Portage office to better serve the Kalamazoo/Portage area. Before the earliest settlers arrived, Pottawatomie Indians inhabited this area. While Kalamazoo was known as the "Paper City" because of the many paper mills in and near that city, Portage had earned the distinction of "Celery City" of the nation; the area remained prolific in celery production until the middle of the twentieth century. Today, Portage is the home of pharmaceutical company Pfizer’s largest manufacturing facility, at 1,300 acres, while Kalamazoo is the home of many well-known breweries, including Bell's Brewery.
In 2015, Abonmarche expanded its Indiana business to Lafayette, IN. According to Forbes Magazine, Lafayette holds the No. 2 spot in “Best Small Places for Business and Careers”. Lafayette is also a next-door neighbor to West Lafayette, where No. 4 Engineering school, Purdue University, is located. Many of our own staff have attended this Purdue, earning their Bachelors Degree in Engineering and other supporting degrees.
South Bend, Indiana
Our South Bend team, established in 1993, is located in a brand new workspace in the city’s bustling downtown area. South Bend is a city that holds a number of little-known treasures. For example, the Potawatomi Zoo of South Bend was opened in 1902, making it Indiana’s oldest zoo! The city is also the historic home to Notre Dame, one of the country’s highest ranked universities. Our new offices here, designed by our Abonmarche team, serve as a precedent for our next chapter of growth.
Nestled along Washington Street in an historic downtown neighborhood, Abonmarche Valparaiso is our Northwest Indiana hub, drawing in business from all across Northern Indiana. As the county seat of Porter County, Indiana, Valparaiso has a rich piece of American history. Valparaiso used to be the home of Presidential Hunting grounds where past President of the United States, Benjamin Harrison, used to hunt. It is also the hometown of two American astronauts: Mark N. Brown and Henry Charles Gordon.
