Visibility and safety for trail users
The City of Niles used Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund money to design and construct 2 miles of Riverfront Park Trail to improve connectivity among parks, the river, and downtown. The trail was relocated from a flood plain onto a railroad right-of-way. A segment crossing a major route into the city was rebuilt to improve visibility and safety for trail users. Abonmarche’s role in the project included topographic surveying and staking, design and construction administration, and floodplain permitting to protect the prairie trillium.
