Project Details

Abonmarche provided architectural and engineering design services for The Salvation Army’s new Niles facility, located on a brownfield site already zoned for its intended use. The team designed a one-story, multipurpose building of approximately 9,000 SF that supports the organization’s diverse community programs. Key spaces included a 100- person chapel, food pantry with dry and cold storage, dining and fellowship room, commercial kitchen, reception area, and six private offices. The layout was planned to meet current operational needs while remaining adaptable for future phases. Additional program elements included three classrooms, case management rooms, storage for school supplies and toys, and men’s, women’s, and gender-neutral restrooms. The team also evaluated future expansion options such as a gymnasium and outdoor activity spaces, considering both traditional construction and pre-engineered building systems. The resulting design positioned the organization to enhance and grow its services within the Niles community.
