Project Details
The South Bend International Airport (SBN) relocated and modernized its Airport Board Room to better serve the public for board meetings and events. SBN provided design and documentation as the foundation, and the design team refined these plans in collaboration with SBN leadership. An underutilized space adjacent to the financial personnel office suite was evaluated as a potential meeting and training room, while design considerations were given to enhancing the existing niche outside the current boardroom.
With extensive FAA experience, the design team ensured construction minimized disruptions to airport operations and staff efficiencies. Coordination with SBN leadership and contractors allowed seamless integration of solutions that maintained workplace continuity. The project adhered to FAA approval processes, with team members trained in TSA and FAA safety protocols to facilitate work in secure areas. Delivered through the Design-Bid-Build method, this locally funded initiative transformed the existing boardroom into expanded office space for financial personnel, providing SBN with a more functional facility.
