As the City of Fennville expanded its Downtown Business District, parking became a major concern. To complicate matters, stormwater runoff was problematic in the areas designated for parking. Abonmarche resolved these issues by designing and constructing a rain garden and outlet control structure to provide stormwater detention, reducing stress on the stormwater system. The design lowered risk of downstream flooding and pre-filtered storm runoff before it entered the storm conveyance system. The completed parking lot provided a unique visual impact over the basic lot originally planned while maximizing the number of spaces available.
