Abonmarche collaborated with Elkhart County to create the Elkhart County Development Ordinance, a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that consolidates the existing Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances into a streamlined, user-friendly document. This ordinance enhances clarity, eliminates conflicting regulations, and modernizes zoning language to reduce jargon and improve accessibility for the public. By presenting key information in an intuitive, visually appealing format, the ordinance facilitates development while preserving the County’s character and long-term planning goals.
Our team played a vital role in shaping the ordinance to ensure ease of use for both developers and County officials. As frequent users of local ordinances—including Elkhart County’s—we brought valuable insight into simplifying processes, improving clarity, and aligning regulations with best practices.
