Project Details
Abonmarche Byce provided Architectural, Interior Design, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineering for the new City of Portage Community Senior Center located on East Centre Avenue in Portage, Michigan. Byce previously conducted a facility assessment, master plan and feasibility study for the Portage Community Senior Center where it was recommended that a new facility be designed and constructed.
The proposed improvements will accomplish 2 key objectives:
- More space to accommodate expanded activities for older adults and community recreational opportunities through Portage Parks & Recreation programming.
- Modern space to accommodate and promote an active and engaged community and senior population who will demand and benefit from a variety and range of functional programming to encourage life-long physical and social engagement.

- Multi-purpose activity space that can accommodate pickleball

- Banquet facility to accommodate public and private events
- ADA accessible restrooms
- Seminar and classroom space
- Coffee shop
- Gaming space for activities such as billiards and table tennis
- Dedicated space for quiet reading and reflection
