Project Details

The Black River Park boat launch, the only public boat launch between Benton Harbor and Saugatuck, serves a large angler population. To better serve this community, Abonmarche partnered with the city of South Haven to design the Black River Fish Cleaning Station. Sitting along the shores of Lake Michigan, it provides two multi-cleaning station tables with grinders, spray hoses, power cords for knives, and a fish scaler. The facility is ADA accessible and free to use for residents and visitors alike.

Our team provided architectural and engineering design services for the facility. We also secured a $150,000 grant from the Great Lakes Fisheries Trust on behalf of the city of South Haven to offset a portion of the overall project costs.

People who aren’t using the launch will be able to park in the free lot immediately south of the facility. The station will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week from April 15 to October and will be closed or on reduced hours between November and April.
