Riverfront street improvements in southwestern Michigan

Williams Street runs along the riverfront and intersects with Phoenix Street, the corridor through downtown South Haven.  As this lakefront community has grown and developed, Williams Street has become a more important part of the visitor’s experience. Abonmarche designed and administered construction for streetscape, roadway, and utility improvements on Williams Street from Eagle Street to Dyckman Road to improve the aesthetic and functional experience of this part of downtown.

The project was funded in part by a MEDC DIG grant, and included reconstruction of the roadway, alternatives for reconfiguration of the parking from angle to parallel, addition of on-street bike lanes, streetscape improvements including: widened sidewalks, brick pavers, street trees, ornamental plantings, boardwalk and irrigation design coordination, replacement of sanitary sewer and watermains, storm sewer improvements, and utility coordination to bury existing overhead utilities.
