New marina development assessment

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians is assessing the viability of developing a new marina in Peshawbestown, in scenic Leland County, that would act as a community economic driver and an enhancement for its Leelanau Sands Casino. The Grand Traverse Band  retained Abonmarche’s services to complete a market study and feasibility analysis of the project and its impact on the Tribe and the community. Abonmarche’s capacity in feasibility, design and construction administration of private and public marina and waterfront projects was viewed as a critical tollgate to determine the project’s potential viability. Our market analysis of the 20 marinas within approximately 120 miles of the Peshawbestown area took into consideration a wide array of influences in the Northeastern Lake Michigan marina market and found unmet demand for hundreds of boat slips, a market significantly larger than was initially estimated by the Tribe. Our waterfront design engineers prepared two development options for the GTB.  Both include a commercial area with room for charter boats, ferries and docking for a cruise ship.
