An award-winning brownfield redevelopment
Abonmarche has been an active consultant for the planning, design and construction of this ambitious Brownfield Redevelopment Project since its inception in 2003.
After removal of over 100,000 tons of contaminated debris and soils from the planned development area, Abonmarche was actively involved with planning, park conversion, permitting, surveying, and engineering design for the first $89 million in public infrastructure. In addition to providing design and construction administration for the golf course and other related site development improvements, Abonmarche provided structural design for all of the bridges along the golf course. These included both the boardwalk bridges, and the larger structures crossing the river. Additional amenities include an observation deck and two fishing platforms.
Upon its completion in 2010, Harbor Shores was ranked No. 3 on the Best New Courses You Can Play list compiled by GOLF Magazine. Additionally, the project has received several environmental awards as well as the Development of the Year by Crain’s Detroit and Grand Rapids Business Journal. In 2011, Abonmarche received the Public Works Project of the Year – Quality of Life, $5 million to $25 million category awarded by the Southwestern Michigan Branch of the American Public Works Association.
