Abonmarche Awarded Statewide APWA Award

Benton Harbor, Michigan— The Michigan Chapter of the American Public Works Association has awarded Abonmarche its 2011 Quality of Life Award for the Harbor Shores project.

In December, Abonmarche received the APWA’s Southwest Michigan Branch chapter Quality of Life Award for the Harbor Shores which made it eligible for the state chapter competition.  The project will now advance to the national level competition.

Abonmarche Consultants, Inc. entered the project, having served in various design, construction and project management roles.  Timothy Drews, PE, PTOE, served as the firm’s Project Manager and is a member of the APWA.  There were numerous strategies employed during the design of the project’s signature golf course which have been recognized by professional organizations for their innovative approach.  The wetlands conservation, innovative drainage solutions, and wildlife protection measures incorporated into the Harbor Shores Development are among the elements that were cited as reasons for the APWA awarding the honor to Abonmarche.
